Nico's cousins, Rose and Anders came over this afternoon for a visit. We hadn't seen them in weeks because everybody keeps getting sick! Anders was running around and sliding on the floor and playing catch with the football, and Nico thought it was hilarious! He was just belly laughing, watching Anders do his thing. It was awesome! Nico and Rose colored for a little while -- Nico seemed quite intrigued by Rose's mad crayon skills -- she drew a beautiful landscape, with grass, a flower, a house and sky. However, despite the increased adult presence, Nico managed to slip away with the black crayon and color on the doorway to the porch. No more crayons for today! When they left, Nico gave big hugs to everybody. Nico is getting pretty good at saying both "Rose" and "Anders." An hour or so after they left, I asked him who came to visit, and he said, "Rose and Anders!" (ok, it sounds more like "wose ah andah," which I still think is impressive). In other news, Nico almost used the potty today! I could tell he was about to do some business, so I asked him, "are you going potty?" And he nodded earnestly -- so I said, "Do you need to sit on the potty?" And he nodded urgently and ran over to his potty. Unfortunately, he had already gone by the time we got there, but he insisted on sitting on it anyway, which was cool. In any case, he totally recognizes when he has to go to the bathroom, and understands what the potty is for. One day soon, we're going to get there in time!
