Today was super fun! Nico woke us up before dawn, ready and raring to go. After we were reasonably caffeinated, we bundled ourselves up and went outside into the falling snow. We already had a few inches of snow cover, and they were predicting up to 7" during today's snowfall! Since it was still pretty early, and actively snowing, folks hadn't gotten out to shovel their sidewalks yet -- perfect! We pulled Nico in his sled all the way down 34th Street to Lake Calhoun. When we got to the end, where we'd have to go down the hill to the lake, we just stopped and looked out into a totally white abyss -- we couldn't even see the near shore of the lake, just across the street! Since it was pretty cold and a little windy, we decided not to keep going down to the lake (where it is usually much more windy), and we turned back toward home. Nico had a great time zooming down the sidewalks, across the streets and over the curbs. We had to drag him around in some loops in the backyard when we got home, because he wasn't ready to get out. When we got back inside, Stephen started prepping a Butternut Squash Lasagna, while I simmered some apple juice with some cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, cardamom and cloves -- and a few tablespoons of a rosemary infusion that stephen had made at the end of summer. It was delicious, and the perfect way to close out a morning of playing in the snow.
