Nico experienced his first fall colors today during an afternoon garden walk. The cut-leaf sumac out front started turning red.
We also met our neighbor Jackson, who lives down the street and has long admired our basil in the Cresent Moon Herb Garden out front. We talked through the ingredients for pesto (basil leaves, garlic, olive oil, pine nuts), include parmesan cheese if eating right away, if freezing for later use, don't, you can add it when you use it this winter.
He also mentioned his four children and 10 grandkids. The newest is a recently arrived adoptee from China. She's a year old and he taught her how to crawl in about a week or so. She's been staring at a white ceiling until arriving, so she's learning many new things.
So, at least Nico has that going for him, his parents have exposed him to a bit more than viewing a white ceiling while laying flat on his back.
