This is what 7 pounds and 15 ounces of baby looks like on a 100 pound gal.
Daddy's gonna pay for this one

If you're seeing this picture, you might want to make a copy because once Mama sees it, I think it's going to be gone gone gone. Daddy's going to be in trouble for this one - you'd think he'd have learned not to mess with a very pregnant wife wielding a knife. But no such lesson has sunk in.

Mama and Daddy went on a lot of walks these last few months. We wanted to get the heart rates up and needed to get some exercise.
Mama as pre-Nico Molly

A lot of folks have asked for pictures of Molly before she became Mama. As Daddy's Godmother said at our wedding: "Be sure to feed that girl, she's barely nothing".
So, here's one of Molly putting Nico's dresser together back in March. Yes, even at 8 plus months pregnant, Molly was doing all the handyperson work around the house. She just loves putting stuff together.
High on new life

It's almost 10 p.m., do you know where your child is?
Yes we do, in Mama's arms at the end of Nico's fifth day.
Perhaps the folks Daddy's age on up will remember this public service campaign back in the 70's, you know, before Mama was born.

Daddy needs a shower!

I'm trying to stay awake, but on our first night home I wasn't much help for Molly. I rallied in the morning on Monday and Molly got a few hours of sleep. She's sleeping now as I have little man Nico at my side until 11 p.m. or so when we do another feeding. That all is going pretty well and Nico seems to be getting the hang of it.
I can only imagine what I'd look like if Grandma C wasn't cooking dinners for us. Tonight was a white bean salad that had broccoli and some leafy thing I can't remember and a quinoa dish with fresh veggies. AND AND a blueberry crisp with a side of ice cream. Just absolutely delicious. Plus we had some minor items like a baby monitor, snuggle sleeper bed (so Nico can safely sleep between us in bed), a baby medical kit, thermometer and some pacifiers that we needed - you know, just some TOTALLY ESSENTIAL ITEMS that she ran around and picked those up for us.
It's been a rough ride

This is from the hospital on Saturday, less than 12 hours old. "Stork Bites" is what they call the redness on the eyelids. "It's a tough world" the doctors and nurses keep telling little Nico, so buck little buddy and get used to it. All this should fade, actually, as I write this on Monday night, coming on three days old, he's looking smoother and smoother.
Grandma C in the rocking chair

Nico's grandmother, Joan Connelly, has been in town from Cinncinati since Wednesday. We didn't have any pictures of her from the hospital, here's one of her from Sunday night. She's using the rocking chair Grandma Eisenmenger gave us, that's her standard gift to a child's first born and we've gotten hours of use out of it in the first 18 hours we've been home.
We called Grandma C to see if she'd make dinner for us and she made these asparagus dumplings withgruyere cheese wrapped in swiss chard - divine! We couldn't believe we were eating such delicious food and that Joan had made it! There was also a veggie salad prepared with an oil and vinegar dressing that was really good and low fat (we didn't ask such questions of the dumplings ;) )
Evidently Grandma C has a bunch of organic vegetarian recipes to try out on us and we can. not. wait. Thanks Grandma C!
